Abstract
The invention relates to β-1,3-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase polypeptides, nucleic acids that encode the polypeptides, and methods of using the polypeptides.
Claims19
A reaction mixture for producing a galactosylated product saccharide, wherein the reaction mixture comprises an isolated or recombinant β-1,3-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase polypeptide, wherein the β-1,3-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase polypeptide comprises an amino acid sequence with at least 80% identity to SEQ ID NO:2, and wherein the β-1,3-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase polypeptide transfers a galactose moiety from a donor substrate to an acceptor substrate.
A method of producing a galactosylated product saccharide, the method comprising the step of:
- a) contacting an acceptor substrate with a donor substrate comprising a galactose moiety and an isolated or recombinant β-1,3-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase polypeptide with at least 80% identity to SEQ ID NO:2;
- and
- b) allowing transfer of a galactose moiety to the acceptor substrate to occur, thereby producing the galactosylated product saccharide.
An isolated or recombinant β-1,3-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase nucleic acid molecule, wherein the β-1,3-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase nucleic acid molecule comprises a nucleic acid sequence with at least 80% identity to SEQ ID NO:1, and wherein β-1,3-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase nucleic acid molecule encodes a β-1,3-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase polypeptide that transfers a galactose moiety from a donor substrate to an acceptor substrate.
