Sharing of multimedia and relevance measure based on hop distance in a social network

A client device for sharing information over a network, comprising:

• a transceiver for communicating data;
• a processor configured to perform actions comprising:
• receiving a request to share a multimedia object;
• retrieving a relevance measure based on an identity of the multimedia object;
• enabling sharing, over the network, of the multimedia object between an originating sharing member and a plurality of members of a social network;
• and
• providing a display of the multimedia object and a combination of the relevance measure and a hop distance for the shared multimedia object.

A system for sharing information over a network, comprising:

• a display list component for displaying a plurality of items, wherein at least one of the items is a shared multimedia object and a co-located relevance measure that is updated in realtime for each sharing of the multimedia object between at least two members of a social network;
• a media player component for providing the shared multimedia object;
• and
• a sharing area configured to perform actions comprising:
• receiving the shared multimedia object;
• generating a sharing message comprising the shared multimedia object;
• and
• forwarding the sharing message to a least one member of the social network.

An apparatus for sharing information over a network, comprising:

• a transceiver for communicating data;
• a processor configured to perform actions comprising
• receiving, over the network, information identifying a music object;
• forwarding, over the network, a sharing message comprising the information identifying the music object to at least one client device associated with at least one member of a social network;
• and
• providing, in real-time, an update of a hop distance and a relevance measure based on a play and sale number for the shared multimedia object.
