Abstract
A power control loop includes a low-frequency signal path and a high-frequency signal path with the delay compensation block. The delay compensation block is used to determine a correlation between an average reference level and an average measured power level. The result may control a delay line to compensate a time misalignment in the power control loop.

A Power control loop, comprising:
- a low frequency signal path configured to receive a first signal indicating a measured power level and a second signal indicating a reference power level;
- a control device configured to provide a power control signal in response to a difference between the measured power level of the first signal and the reference power level of the second signal;
- and
- a high frequency signal path configured to receive the first signal and the second signal, the high frequency signal path comprising a compensation block configured to provide an adjustment signal for delaying the second signal in response to signal components of the first and second signal, for use in generating the power control signal.

A power control loop, comprising:
- a first signal path with a first input configured to receive a reference power level and a second input configured to receive a measured power level, the first signal path comprising a delay circuit configured to delay the reference power level in response to an adjustment signal and comprising a control circuit coupled to the delay circuit, and configured to provide a power control signal in response to the delayed reference power level and the measured power level;
- and
- a second signal path with a first input configured to receive the reference power level and a second input configured to receive the measured power level, the second signal path comprising at least two filter devices configured to suppress low frequency fractions of the reference power level and the measured power level, and further configured to provide the adjustment signal in response to a temporal deviation of the filtered reference and the measured power level.
A transmitter device, comprising:
- a transmitter path with an input and an output, and comprising an amplifier with an adjustable gain configured to amplify a phase- and amplitude-modulated signal;
- a power control loop coupled between the input and the output of the transmitter path, and configured to control the gain of the amplifier in response to a deviation between a reference power level derived from a signal at the input and a measured power level derived from a signal at the output, wherein the power control loop is further configured to delay the reference power level in response to an adjustment signal;
- and
- a compensation block configured to generate the adjustment signal in response to a deviation between filtered fractions of the reference power level and the measured power level.

A method for controlling the output power of an amplifier, comprising:
- providing a reference signal indicating a desired envelope output power of a wanted signal;
- amplifying the wanted signal and determining a measured signal indicating the real envelope output power of the amplified signal;
- filtering the reference signal and the measured signal to suppress low frequency fractions;
- providing an adjustment signal in response to a temporal misalignment between the filtered reference signal and the filtered measured signal;
- delaying the reference signal by a time period derived by the adjustment signal;
- and
- adjusting an amplification gain in response to a deviation between the delayed reference signal and the measured signal.
