Abstract
The present invention provides methods for the control of the generation of regulatory T cells (Tregs) and uses thereof.
Claims15
The method of claim 5, wherein the inhibitor of IDO suppresses the induction of regulatory T cells (Tregs) in the subject.
The method of claim 5, wherein the inhibitor of IDO suppresses the generation or reactivation of regulatory T cells (Tregs) in the subject.
The method of claim 5, wherein the inhibitor of IDO is 1-methyl-tryptophan (1-MT).
A method of reducing immune suppression mediated by regulatory T cells (Tregs) in a subject, the method comprising administering to the subject an inhibitor of indoleamine-2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) in an amount effective to enhance an immune response.
A method to reduce the induction of antigen-specific regulatory T cells in a subject, the method comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of such an antigen in combination with an inhibitor of IDO.
A method to enhance the immune response in a subject to a vaccine antigen, the method comprising administering to the subject the vaccine antigen, a CpG oligonucleotide (ODN), and an inhibitor of indoleamine-2,3-dioxygenase (IDO).

The method of claim 14, wherein the metabolic breakdown product of tryptophan is selected from the group consisting of L-kynurenine, kynurenic acid, anthranilic acid, 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid, quinolinic acid, picolinic acid, and analogs thereof.
A method of generating regulatory T cells (Tregs) in a subject, the method comprising administering to the subject a metabolic breakdown product of tryptophan, or an analog of a metabolic breakdown product of tryptophan.
