Abstract
A magnetically self balancing pen and base includes a base member housing a disk magnet and a concentric ring magnet having a predetermined inside diameter. The pen assembly has a barrel, an elongated ink cartridge with a magnetically attractable tip, and an annular magnet disposed inside the barrel and around the elongated ink cartridge. The annular magnet is located proximal but separated from the magnetically attractable tip with the end proximal the tip having a polarity equal to that of an upper surface of the ring magnet in the base.

A magnetically self-balancing pen and base comprising:
- a) a base member having at least one substantially flat-resting side;
- b) a disk magnet at a predetermined position within said base member;
- c) a preselected ring magnet having a predetermined inside diameter disposed within said base member concentric with said disk magnet;
- and
- d) a pen assembly having a barrel, an elongated ink cartridge with a magnetically attractable tip, and at least one annular magnet disposed within said barrel and surrounding a portion of said elongated ink cartridge, said annular magnet positioned a predetermined distance from said magnetically attractable tip with an end proximal said tip having a polarity equal to that of an upper surface of said ring magnet.
A magnetically self-balancing object and holder comprising:
- a) a base member housing a disk magnet and a concentric ring magnet having a predetermined inside diameter;
- b) a holder member having a magnetically attractable pointed proximal end and a distal end;
- c) at least one cylindrical magnet disposed within said holder member with a predetermined distance between said pointed proximal end and a proximal end of said at least one cylindrical magnet;
- and
- d) an item holding means disposed at said distal end of said holder member for removably holding at least one preselected desk item.
A magnetically self-balancing object and base comprising:
- a) a base member having at least one substantially flat-resting side;
- b) an elongated rod member fixedly attached to and rising substantially vertically from said base member, said elongated rod member having a magnetically attractable tip at a distal end;
- c) a removable balancing object having at least an upper and lower surface;
- d) a preselected disk magnet centrally located adjacent said lower surface of said balancing object;
- e) a preselected ring magnet having a predetermined inside diameter disposed adjacent said lower surface of said balancing object within said balancing object concentric with said disk magnet;
- and
- f) an annular magnet surrounding a portion of said elongated rod member, said annular magnet positioned a predetermined distance from said magnetically attractable tip with an end proximal said tip having a polarity equal to that of a lower surface of said magnetic ring.
A magnetically self-balancing pen and base comprising:
- a) a base member having at least one substantially flat-resting side;
- b) a disk magnet at a predetermined position within said base member;
- c) a plurality of individual magnets arranged in a predetermined pattern with centers of said individual magnets all a predetermined substantially equal distance from said disk magnet;
- and
- d) a pen assembly having a barrel, an elongated ink cartridge with a magnetically attractable tip, and at least one annular magnet disposed within said barrel and surrounding a portion of said elongated ink cartridge, said annular magnet positioned a predetermined distance from said magnetically attractable tip with an end proximal said tip having a polarity equal to that of proximal ends of said individual magnets.
