Abstract
Devices for the delivery of medicament.
Claims26
A device for storing and delivering medicament, the device comprising:
- a fluid flow path;
- and
- a chamber configured for storing and delivering a medicament, the chamber having a substantially curved interior surface and an opening that provides fluid communication with the fluid flow path, a first section of the curved interior surface configured to receive fluid flow admitted through the opening, a second section of the curved interior surface configured to receive the fluid flow and to redirect at least a portion of the fluid flow toward the first section of the curved interior surface and through the fluid flow being admitted through the opening, a first portion of the redirected fluid flow exiting the chamber to the fluid flow path and a second portion of the redirected fluid flow remaining in the chamber.
The device of claim 14, further comprising:
- an active source configured to provide air flow to the fluid flow path.
The device of claim 14, further comprising:
- an access device configured to receive air from the fluid flow path for delivery to a subject.
A device for storing and delivering medicament, the device comprising:
- a chamber configured for storing and delivering medicament, the chamber having an fluid inlet and a fluid outlet and an interior surface that includes a curved section, an inlet section, and an outlet section, the inlet section configured to lie parallel to a direction of flow of fluid that is received in the air inlet and to provide the air to the curved section for circulation about the chamber and deliver from the chamber along the outlet section;
- a fluid pathway in fluid communication with the chamber through the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet, fluid communication being selectively openable and closable between the fluid pathway and the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet;
- and
- a restriction positioned in the fluid pathway between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet.

A device for storing and delivering medicament, the device comprising:
- a fluid path;
- and
- a substantially torus-shaped chamber configured for storing and delivering medicament, a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet positioned along a central portion of the torus-shaped chamber and providing fluid communication with the fluid path, the torus-shaped chamber including a curved interior surface that receives fluid from the fluid inlet substantially along a tangent of the curved surface and that delivers fluid to the fluid outlet along a tangent of the curved surface.

A device for storing and delivering medicament, the device comprising:
- a fluid path;
- a substantially torus-shaped chamber configured for storing and delivering a medicament, the chamber having a substantially curved interior surface and an opening that provides fluid communication with the fluid path, a first section of the curved interior surface configured to receive fluid to the chamber in an inlet flow of fluid and a second section of the curved interior surface configured to receive the inlet flow of fluid and to redirect at least a portion of the inlet flow toward the first section of the curved interior surface and through the inlet flow of fluid, a first portion of the redirected flow of fluid exiting the chamber to the fluid path and a second portion of the redirected flow of fluid reentering the inlet flow of fluid.

A device for storing and delivering multiple doses of powdered medicament, the device comprising:
- a plurality of dispersion engines each including a dose chamber and a passageway, each dispersion engine having a first position with a dose chamber in fluid communication with the passageway for delivery of a dose from the dose chamber, and a second position with the dose chamber out of fluid communication with the passageway for storing the dose within the chamber;
- and
- an outlet that may be moved sequentially into registration with the passageway of each of the plurality of dispersion engines.

A device for storing and delivering multiple doses of powdered medicament, the device comprising:
- passageway;
- and
- plurality of dispersion engines that each include a dose chamber that may be moved sequentially into registration with the passageway to permit fluid communication at an opening between the passageway and the registered dose chamber, the opening configured to provide a flow pathway for fluid that enters and that leaves the registered dose chamber;
- wherein the dispersion engine that is in registration with the passageway includes an interior wall that is configured to direct fluid flow towards a flow of fluid from the opening into the dose chamber.

- a housing comprising a first chamber and defining at least a portion of a first volume;
- an inhalable drug in the first chamber;
- a first member engageable with and movable relative to the housing, the first member comprising a first fluid path, an inlet channel in fluid communication with the first fluid path, and an outlet channel in fluid communication with the first fluid path,
- wherein the device is capable of being in a first position in which the first chamber is isolated from the first volume and the first fluid path, and in a second position in which the first chamber is in fluid communication with the first volume and the first fluid path.
