A computer-implemented method, comprising:
- receiving a video stream and displaying the video stream in a first area of a graphical user interface (GUI), where the video stream includes a time-ordered set of images;
- selecting a plurality of images from the stream;
- accepting user input to convert the images into an animation;
- producing an animation from the images;
- and
- producing an animated icon from the animation.

A computer program product, encoded on a computer-readable medium, operable to cause data processing apparatus to perform operations comprising:
- receiving a video stream and displaying the video stream in a first area of a graphical user interface (GUI), where the video stream includes a time-ordered set of images;
