Abstract
A method of treating and preventing type 2 diabetes and obesity an animal, including mammals and humans, in which a therapeutically effective amount of catalpic acid to the animal is administered orally or parentally.

A method of treating or preventing conditions and diseases associated with Metabolic Syndrome or Syndrome X, type 2 diabetes and obesity comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of a compound selected from the group consisting of catalpic acid, esters thereof, pharmaceutically-suitable salts thereof, metabolites thereof, and combinations thereof.
