Abstract
Disclosed are a liquid crystal composition and a liquid crystal display using the same. The liquid crystal composition includes a polar compound and a low-viscosity compound. The liquid crystal display includes first and second substrates that face each other, and first and second electrodes disposed on the first and second substrates, respectively. A liquid crystal layer including the liquid crystal composition is disposed between the first and second substrates.

A liquid crystal composition, comprising:
- a first compound according to chemical formula 1;
- and
- a second compound according to chemical formula 2,
- wherein, R1, R2, and R3 each denote an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, or an alkoxy group.

A liquid crystal display, comprising:
- a first substrate;
- a second substrate;
- a first electrode disposed on the first substrate;
- a second electrode disposed on the second substrate and facing the first electrode;
- and
- a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate,
- wherein the liquid crystal layer comprises a liquid crystal composition comprising:
- a first compound according to chemical formula 1;
- and
- a second compound according to chemical formula 2,
- wherein, R1, R2, and R3 each denote an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, or an alkoxy group.
