Abstract

A television receiver 100 receives, with a tuner 11, a television broadcast signal to which text data indicating emergency information is added, and displays an image on the basis of the received television broadcast signal. In the television receiver 100, a TS decoder 12 separates the text data from the received television broadcast signal, and temporarily stores the text data into a service information processor 15. Then, the separated text data is multiplexed with image data by a multiplexing processor 16 and outputted to a display module 30. In accordance with a text data display switching program 302, when channels are switched, a controller 21 issues an instruction to the multiplexing processor 16 not to display alarm text in image data that is displayed after the channels are switched.
