Abstract

An illuminating rear bow sight with a self contained illumination means and power source is disclosed. The sight hereby satisfies the need of archers and hunters for a less cumbersome, quieter and more efficient rear bow sight that will provide a clear view of the target and sighting pins and enable a more accurate shot downrange. This sight is mounted directly within the strings of a multi-string bowstring. The power source contained internally in the structure of the disclosed rear bow sight is a stick-type battery with an LED light mounted to the end of said battery. The target is sighted over a V-shaped portion of the sight, which is illuminated via internal LED light to allow the shooter a clearer view of the target and sighting pins.

Dependent claims

A rear bow sight device for a bow with a multiple stranded bowstring, said device comprising:

a. A body member;
b. A switching member;
c. A battery, said battery being self-contained within the rear bow sight device;
and
d. An LED light unit, said LED light unit being self-contained within the rear bow sight device.

A rear bow sight device for a bow with a multiple stranded bowstring, said device comprising:

a. A switching member, of a material transparent in clarity, covered in an opaque material and of a shape capable of being fastened to the body member by an interlocking means, said switching member having a battery housing located along the longitudinal center axis of the switching member, of sufficient diameter and depth to securely hold the battery and LED unit;
b. A body member, of a material transparent in clarity, covered in an opaque material and of a shape capable of being fastened to the switching member by an interlocking means, and an upper end of said body member having a V-shaped configuration;
c. A circular or near-circular battery and light housing located along the longitudinal center axis of the body member, said battery and light housing of such a diameter to accommodate insertion of a battery and LED light unit, said battery and light housing tapering at its upper most section to a diameter sufficient to temporarily hold the LED light in a fixed position;
d. A battery and LED light unit;
e. A section of the body member whereby the clarity is transparent and of a shape to allow a V-shaped line of light to emit from the LED light contained within said body member, said V-shaped line of light to be of approximate shape of the upper V-shaped end of said body member.
f. Said body member having grooves notched along each of the side panels to allow for securing within the multiple stranded bowstring.
