Abstract
A method of processing the presence status of a user at at least one terminal connected to a telecommunications network on the basis of presence status information provided by at least one status source of said terminal. The presence status is weighted as a function of a pertinence value that is calculated as a function of time. The invention makes it possible over time to correct the pertinence of presence information to as maximize the reliability of a presence status calculated on the basis of said information.

A method of processing presence status information relating to the presence status of a user at a terminal, said presence status information being provided by at least one status source associated with said terminal, said method comprising a weighting step during which said information is weighted as a function of a pertinence value that is calculated as a function of time.
A device for processing presence status information relating to the presence status of a user at a terminal, said presence status information being provided by at least one presence source associated with said terminal, said device comprising means for weighting said presence status information as a function of a pertinence level calculated as a function of time.
A system for updating the presence status of a user at at least one terminal connected to a telecommunications network, each terminal being associated with at least one status source for providing presence status information about said user, said system comprising an data aggregator device comprising:
- collector means for collecting a plurality of unit presence probability values provided by a plurality of status sources associated with said terminal;
- weighting means for weighting said unit presence probability values as a function of a pertinence level calculated as a function of time;
- and
- calculator means for calculating an aggregated presence status probability resulting from a linear combination of said unit presence probability values.
