Stimulation Device for Treating Osteoarthritis

A method for providing therapeutic treatment to a knee joint, the method comprising:

• positioning an electromagnetic stimulating means near the knee joint;
• generating signals with a signal generator based upon a selected treatment mode, the treatment mode stored in a controller;
• communicating the signals to the electromagnetic stimulating means;
• generating a pulsed electromagnetic field within the knee joint;
• generating a therapeutic temperature-related treatment within the knee joint with a thermal exchange component;
• and
• displaying one or more treatment parameters on a display coupled to the controller.

A device for providing therapeutic treatment to a body part to promote healing of the body part, the device comprising:

• a signal generator for generating pulsed signals based upon a selected treatment mode;
• a controller for storing the treatment mode and communicating the treatment mode to the signal generator;
• an electromagnetic stimulating means configured to receive the signals from the signal generator and generate an electromagnetic field within the body part;
• a thermal exchange component configured to provide temperature-based therapy to the body part;
• and
• a first power source coupled to the signal generator and a second power source coupled to the thermal exchange component, wherein the second power source comprises a chemical reaction power source,
• wherein the signal generator, the controller, the electromagnetic stimulating means, and the thermal exchange component are disposed between a first layer and a second layer, the first layer comprising an adhesive on an exterior side of the first layer.
