Abstract
An inbred corn line, designated CC1, is disclosed. The invention relates to the seeds of inbred corn line CC1, to the plants and plant parts of inbred corn line CC1 and to methods for producing a corn plant, either inbred or hybrid, by crossing the inbred line CC1 with itself or another corn line. The invention further relates to methods for producing a corn plant containing in its genetic material one or more transgenes and to the transgenic plants produced by that method and to methods for producing other inbred corn lines derived from the inbred CC1.
Claims26
A seed of corn inbred line designated CC1, wherein a representative sample of seed of said line was deposited under NCIMB ______.
A corn plant, or a part thereof, having all the physiological and morphological characteristics of the inbred line CC1, wherein a representative sample of seed of said line was deposited under NCIMB ______.
A method for producing inbred line CC1, wherein a representative sample of seed of said line was deposited under NCIMB ______, wherein the method comprises:
- a) planting a collection of seed comprising seed of a hybrid, one of whose parents is inbred line CC1, said collection also comprising seed of said inbred;
- b) growing plants from said collection of seed;
- c) identifying the plants having the physiological and morphological characteristics of corn inbred line CC1 as inbred parent plants;
- d) controlling pollination of said inbred parent plants in a manner which preserves the homozygosity of said inbred parent plant;
- and
- e) harvesting the resultant seed.
A method of introducing a desired trait into corn inbred line CC1 wherein the method comprises:
- a) crossing the inbred line CC1 plants grown from the inbred line CC1 seed, wherein a representative sample of seed of said line was deposited under NCIMB ______, with plants of another corn line that comprise a desired trait to produce progeny plants, wherein the desired trait is selected from the group consisting of male sterility, male fertility, herbicide resistance, insect resistance, disease resistance, waxy starch, water stress tolerance, increased amylose starch and increased digestibility;
- b) selecting progeny plants that have the desired trait to produce selected progeny plants;
- c) crossing the selected progeny plants with the inbred line CC1 plants to produce backcross progeny plants;
- d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have the desired trait and physiological and morphological characteristics of corn inbred line CC1 listed in Table 1 to produce selected backcross progeny plants;
- and
- e) repeating steps (c) and (d) one or more times in succession to produce selected second or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and the physiological and morphological characteristics of corn inbred line CC1 as listed in Table 1.
Hybrid corn seed designated CC1*LH287 having inbred line CC1 or a transgenic inbred line of CC1 as a parental line, wherein a representative sample of seed of CC1 was deposited under NCIMB ______, and having inbred line LH287 or a transgenic inbred line of LH287 as a parental line, wherein a representative sample of seed of LH287 was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-1174, wherein the transgenic inbred line CC1 or LH287 comprises a transgene that confers a trait selected from the group consisting of disease resistance, male sterility, herbicide resistance, and insect resistance.
A hybrid corn plant designated CC1*MM26 having inbred line CC1 or a transgenic inbred line of CC1 as a parental line, wherein a representative sample of seed of CC1 was deposited under NCIMB ______, and having inbred line MM26 or a transgenic inbred line of MM26 as a parental line, wherein a representative sample of seed of CC1*MM26 was deposited under NCIMB ______, wherein the transgenic inbred line CC1 or MM26 comprises a transgene that confers a trait selected from the group consisting of disease resistance, male sterility, herbicide resistance, and insect resistance.
A hybrid corn plant designated CC1*UNW1 having inbred line CC1 or a transgenic inbred line of CC1 as a parental line, wherein a representative sample of seed of CC1 was deposited under NCIMB ______, and having inbred line UNW1 or a transgenic inbred line of UNW1 as a parental line, wherein a representative sample of seed of UNW1 was deposited under NCIMB ______, wherein the transgenic inbred line CC1 or UNW1 comprises a transgene that confers a trait selected from the group consisting of disease resistance, male sterility, herbicide resistance, and insect resistance.
