Abstract
There are provided systems and methods for user interface and identification in a medical device. More specifically, in one embodiment, there is provided a method for accessing a medical device, the method comprising detecting an identification tag, reading identification information from the identification tag, determining if a person corresponding to the identification information has been approved to access the medical device, and if the person has been approved, granting access to the medical device.
Claims25
A method for accessing a medical monitoring device, the method comprising:
- reading identification information from an identification tag;
- electronically determining if a person corresponding to the identification information has been approved to access the medical monitoring device;
- and
- if the person has been approved, granting access to the medical monitoring device, wherein granting access comprises permitting the person to execute a first command of the medical monitoring device, but denying the person to execute a second command of the medical monitoring device if the person is not a doctor.
A medical device comprising:
- a reader configured to read identification information from an identification tag;
- a recognition system configured to determine if a person corresponding to the identification information has been approved to access the medical device;
- an access control system configured to grant access to the medical device if the person has been approved to access the medical device, wherein granting access comprises permitting the person to execute a first command of the medical monitoring device, but denying the person to execute a second command of the medical monitoring device if the person is not a doctor;
- and
- a sensor configured to monitor a physiological characteristic.
A medical device comprising:
- a reader configured to read identification information from an identification tag;
- and
- a patient identification system configured to store the identification information in the medical device as patient information, wherein the patient identification system is configured to associate the patient information with medical data produced by the medical device.
