Method and System For Visually Presenting a High Dynamic Range Image

Method for presenting an image, exhibiting a dynamic range, the method comprising the procedures of:

• determining the dynamic range of the image;
• determining a color space configuration including more than one cycle of an optimized color space;
• applying said color space configuration to said dynamic range;
• displaying said image to a user, according to said color space configuration.

Method for optimizing a color space, comprising the procedures of:

• presenting the user with a chromatic presentation of a selected reference color in a given color space;
• presenting the user with a plurality of chromatic presentations of colors adjacent to said selected reference color in said color space;
• receiving user identification of noticeable color difference between said selected reference color and said adjacent colors;
• and
• determining the adjacent color closest to said selected reference color, with noticeable change, as the next color in an optimized color space.

System for presenting an image, exhibiting a dynamic range, the system comprising:

• a dynamic range analyzer, for analyzing the dynamic range of said image;
• a color space analyzer, for determining a color space configuration more than one cycle of a color space;
• and
• a dynamic range—color space converter, coupled with said dynamic range analyzer and with said color space analyzer, for applying said color space configuration to said dynamic range, thereby enabling visual perception of features which were essentially un-noticeable in said image prior to applying said color space configuration to said dynamic range.
