An apparatus comprising:
- a first array of discrete elements, said first array being arranged in a first pattern, the first pattern being selected to pass a first portion of an incoming wave to form a first interference pattern, said first array of discrete elements including at least two discrete elements configured to detect a portion of the incoming wave;
- and
- a receiver, said receiver being arranged according to the first interference pattern and aligned to receive the passed portion of the wave.

An apparatus, comprising:
- a first array of discrete elements, said first array being arranged in a first pattern, the first pattern being selected to pass a first portion of an incoming wave to form a first interference pattern;
- a receiver, said receiver being arranged according to the first interference pattern and configured to receive the passed portion of the wave;
- and
- wherein a first discrete element in the first array of discrete elements is configured to detect energy in a first energy band and a second discrete element in the first array of discrete elements is configured to detect energy in a second energy band different from the first energy band.
An apparatus, comprising:
- a receiver having at least one receiver input positioned to receive energy in a first energy range;
- a first array of discrete elements positioned relative to the receiver, said first array being arranged in a first pattern, the first pattern being selected to pass a first portion of an incoming wave having energy in the first range and to form a first interference pattern overlapping the receiver input;
- and
- wherein said first array of discrete elements includes at least two discrete elements configured to detect a portion of the incoming wave.
