A method for estimating temperature of an internal combustion engine exhaust gases, a system for estimating exhaust gas temperature and an engine equipped with such a system The method uses an estimator with a neural ne work provided with a feedback loop returning directly or indirectly in the network input one or more quantities of the network output.

- using an estimator with a neuronal network, provided with a feedback loop, returning directly or indirectly, to a network input, one or more of quantities available at an output of the network.
A system for estimating an exhaust gas temperature of an engine, comprising:
- an estimator with a neural network including a feedback loop returning, directly or indirectly, one or more of network output variables to a network input.
