Abstract
The present invention addresses the treatment of ocular conditions by the enhancement of lens regeneration. Enhancement of lens regeneration is accomplished by the administration of a viscoelastic material in association with a composition comprising a polymer having functional acryl groups useful in the preparation of intraocular lenses (IOLs).
Claims31
A method of enhancing regeneration of lens cells in a mammal after endocapsular extraction comprising filling a lens capsule bag of said mammal with an injectable lens material comprising a polymer wherein said injectable lens material has a viscosity for being injected through standard cannula and said polymer has functional groups at terminal ends of said polymer.
A kit comprising (i) a polysiloxane polymer;
- and (ii) instructional materials wherein said instructional materials direct the use of said polysiloxane polymer in enhancing regeneration of lens cells.
A method of promoting accommodation in the lens of an eye after endocapsular extraction comprising:
- coating the lens capsule bag with a viscoelastic material;
- and
- filling said lens capsule bag with an injectable lens material comprising a polymer wherein said injectable lens material has a viscosity for being injected through standard cannula and said polymer has functional groups at terminal ends of said polymer.
