System for controlling display content for multiple electronic display units

A system for controlling display content for a plurality of electronic displays comprising software stored on a computer-readable medium and when executed operable to:

• generate a graphical user interface comprising:
• a plurality of virtual display unit icons;
• and
• a plurality of display content icons, each of the display content icons corresponding with a display content file and at least some of the display content icons being operable to be selected and positioned within the graphical user interface;
• wherein particular ones of the virtual display unit icons may be associated with particular ones of the display content icons according to the position of the particular ones of the display content icons within the graphical user interface;
• and
• generate control instructions adapted to define display content for at least one display group comprising a plurality of electronic display units, such that the display content for a particular display unit corresponds with the display content icon associated with a virtual display unit icon for the particular display unit.

A system for controlling display content for a plurality of electronic display units comprising software stored on a computer-readable medium and when executed operable to:

• initiate a first application instance running on a first controller;
• transmit a query to determine if a second application instance has control of display content for a display group comprising a plurality of electronic display units;
• receive a message from the second application instance indicating that the second application instance has control of display content for the display group;
• transmit a message to the second application instance requesting or establishing that the first application instance has control of display content for the display group;
• transmit control instructions adapted to define display content for the plurality of electronic display units in the display group.

A system for controlling display content for a plurality of electronic display units comprising software stored on a computer-readable medium and when executed operable to:

• generate a graphical user interface comprising:
• a plurality of virtual display unit icons;
• a plurality of display content icons, each of the display content icons corresponding with a display content file and at least some of the display content icons being operable to be selected and positioned within the graphical user interface;
• and
• an active view designator, the active view designator adapted to identify a first group of the virtual display unit icons, such that each of the virtual display unit icons in the first group corresponds with an electronic display unit;
• wherein particular ones of the virtual display unit icons may be associated with particular ones of the display content icons according to the position of the particular ones of the display content icons within the graphical user interface;
• and
• generate first control instructions adapted to define display content for the electronic display units corresponding with the first group of virtual display unit icons identified by the active view designator, such that the display content corresponds with the display content icons associated with the first group of virtual display unit icons.

A method for controlling display content for a plurality of tablet-type computers comprising:

• initiating a first application instance on a controller;
• transmitting, from the controller, control instructions adapted to define display content for a display group comprising a plurality of tablet-type computers;
• modifying display content for at least one tablet-type computer using a touch-screen;
• storing the modified display content for the at least one tablet-type computer.
