A method of providing an operational robust interbank deposit and lending market based on an adapted electronic futures exchange type market model, rules and legal environment comprising:
- listing a listed for trading product (the traded rate product) in an electronic futures exchange type environment, which allows the borrowing or placement of funds;
- wherein the traded rate product volume is substantially the amount of money being borrowed or lent and so its notional lot size is the smallest unit size of the currency in use;
- and the traded rate product quotation price used in front office systems appears in annualized percentage points according to the money market day count convention;
- mapping the placed front office order quotation via an algorithm comprising a set of parameterized mapping formulae into a representation, the forward valued product, suitable for internal matching and post trade clearing;
- reverse mapping from the forward valued product orderbook and fill information to traded rate product quotation orderbook and fill information;
- executing a trade relative to the traded rate product quotation pursuant to a user command;
- delivering forward valued product positions based on the executed order in exchange for the transfer of funds associated with the traded rate product volume after a period of business days defining the spot date;
- and
- returning funds plus interest at the expiration of the forward value product position in cash currency equal to the forward value product position size held.
