Novel Tertiary Amine Compounds Having An Ester Structure And Processes For Preparing The Same

A process for the preparation of an ester group-containing tertiary amine compound represented by the general formula (1)

• (R1OCH2CH2)nN(CH2CH2CO2R2)3-n (1)
• the process comprising the steps of subjecting monoethanolamine or diethanolamine represented by the general formula (7)
• (HOCH2CH2)nNH3-n (7)
• to Michael addition to an acrylic ester compound represented by the general formula (6)
• so as to form an ester group-containing ethanolamine compound represented by the general formula (8)
• (HOCH2CH2)nN(CH2CH2CO2R2)3-n (8)
• and introducing the R1 group therein to form a compound of the formula (1) above, wherein:
• n is 1 or 2;
• and
• R1 and R2 each independently represents a straight chain, branched or cyclic alkyl group of 1 to 20 carbon atoms which may contain an ether, carbonyl or carbonyloxy group.

A process for the preparation of an ester group-containing tertiary amine compound represented by the general formula (1)

• (R1OCH2CH2)nN(CH2CH2CO2R2)3-n (1)
• the process comprising the step of effecting the ester exchange reaction of an ester group-containing tertiary amine represented by the general formula (9)
• (R1OCH2CH2)nN(CH2CH2CO2R4)3-n (9)
• with an alcohol represented by the general formula R2OH,
• wherein:
• n is 1 or 2;
• R1 and R2 each independently represents a straight chain, branched or cyclic alkyl group of 1 to 20 carbon atoms which may contain an ether, carbonyl or carbonyloxy group;
• and
• R4 represents an alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
