Abstract
A hologram recording material is provided and has: a sensitizing dye represented by formula specified in the specification, capable of absorbing hologram recording light to generate an exited state thereof and discoloring itself when irradiated with light after hologram recording; and an interference fringe-recording component capable of undergoing electron or energy transfer from excited state of sensitizing dye to record an interference fringes providing a refractive index modulation.
Claims24
A hologram recording material comprising:
- a sensitizing dye capable of absorbing hologram recording light to generate an excited state thereof and capable of discoloring itself upon irradiation after hologram recording, the sensitizing dye being a compound represented by formula (I):
- D-L-E-LP
- wherein D represents a group containing a sensitizing dye, L represents a single bond or a connecting group, E represents a site capable of disconnecting the bond between E and LP to discolor the sensitizing dye, and LP reports a group containing a site capable of disconnecting the bond between E and LP upon irradiation;
- and
- an interference fringe-recording component capable of recording interference fringes providing a refractive index modulation by an electron or energy transfer from the excited state.
A hologram recording method comprises:
- effecting hologram recording with a sensitizing dye represented by formula (1):
- D-L-E-LP
- wherein D represents a group containing a sensitizing dye, L represents a single bond or a connecting group, E represents a site capable of disconnecting the bond between E and LP to discolor the sensitizing dye, and LP represent a group containing a site capable of disconnecting the bond between E and LP upon irradiation;
- and
- irradiating with light other than hologram recording light so that the sensitizing dye represented by formula (1) is self-discolored and fixed, to record interference fringes providing a refractive index modulation,
- wherein a hologram recorded by the hologram recording method can be reproduced by irradiating with the same light as the hologram recording light without extinguishing the interference fringes.
