System and method for dynamic egress routing through a single default gateway in a mesh network

A computer-readable medium that includes computer-executable instructions for managing routing to Internet egress points on a network, the instructions comprising:

• obtaining a list of paths from a default gateway to an Internet egress point;
• determining an optimal path;
• and
• using the optimal path to manage Internet access routing to the Internet egress pont.

A computer-implemented method for managing routing to Internet egress points on a network, comprising:

• providing a default gateway which manages routes to Internet egress points for a client;
• including a list of Internet egress points corresponding to the default gateway;
• applying a metric to the list of Internet access points to determine an optimal path, wherein mesh conductivity layer protocol is utilized as a calculation engine;
• determining if routing is permitted to the Internet egress point associated with the optimal path;
• and
• using the optimal path to manage Internet access routing for the client if routing is permitted.
