Abstract
Calibration for a camera is achieved by receiving images of a calibration object whose geometry is one-dimension in space. The received images show the calibration object in several distinct positions. Calibration for the camera is then calculated based on the received images of the calibration object.
Claims9
A method comprising:
- receiving images of a one-dimensional object comprising three or more collinear points with known relative positions between the points and wherein at least one of the collinear points is fixed;
- analyzing images of the one-dimensional object in several distinct positions but with the at least one of the collinear points remaining fixed;
- calculating parameters associated with sampled images;
- and
- providing a camera calibration solution based on the calculated parameters.

A system, comprising:
- means for calibrating using a one-dimensional calibration object comprising three or more collinear points with known relative positions between the points;
- means for generating images of the one-dimensional calibration object in several distinct positions;
- and
- means for receiving the images from the generating means and for solving calibration equations based on information that is associated with images, wherein the solved calibration equations can be used to generate signals that permit the receiving and solving means to calibrate the generating means.

A system comprising:
- means for receiving images of a calibration object whose geometry is one-dimension in space, the received images showing the calibration object in several distinct positions;
- means for calculating a calibration for a camera based on the received images of the calibration object;
- and
- means for calculating parameters associated with the camera and the calibration object by using a closed-form solution or a non-linear optimization.
