Methods and systems for measuring speckle translation with spatial filters

A system for determining velocity, comprising:

• two or more spatial filters;
• a phase quadrature decoder connected to each spatial filter;
• and
• a controller configured to analyze output pulses generated by the phase quadrature decoders and detect when a pre-determined number of similarly signed output pulses are generated by each phase quadrature decoder.

A method for determining velocity, comprising:

• receiving an I and Q signal;
• performing a recursive frequency estimation using the I and Q signals;
• and
• determining the velocity based on one or more results from the recursive frequency estimation.

A system, comprising:

• two or more spatial filters for generating a plurality of I and Q signal pairs;
• an integrator configured to determine a velocity measurement based on each I and Q signal pair;
• and
• a controller configured to adjust a measurement bandwidth of the integrator based on the velocity measurement.

A method for determining velocity, comprising:

• receiving a plurality of I and Q signal pairs;
• accumulating a charge for each I and Q signal in each signal pair;
• integrating the accumulated charges for each I and Q signal in each signal pair to generate integrated values;
• comparing the integrated values with expected values;
• and
• based on the comparison, adjusting the amount of accumulated charges integrated to generate the integrated values.

A method for selecting a timing scheme for obtaining a plurality of velocity measurements, comprising:

• determining whether a timing scheme has been selected;
• if a timing scheme has not been selected, obtaining the plurality of velocity measurements with a default scheme;
• and
• if a timing scheme has been selected, obtaining the plurality of velocity measurements with the selected scheme.
