Abstract
A pendant sprinkler head includes a sprinkler body, with an orifice that forms an inlet and an outlet. A deflector is movably supported by a deflector support assembly and is movable between a retracted position wherein the deflector is adjacent the outlet and an extended position where the deflector is spaced from the outlet. At least a portion of the deflector support assembly is located in the orifice when the deflector is in its retracted position.

A sprinkler head for a fire extinguishing system comprising:
- a sprinkler body having an orifice, said orifice having an inlet and an outlet;
- a deflector support assembly at least partially positioned within said orifice;
- a movable deflector supported by said deflector support assembly and positioned in proximity to said outlet;
- a sealing member positioned within said orifice, said sealing member releasably sealing said orifice;
- a movable compression member slidably movable through said movable deflector, said compression member releasably securing said sealing member in a closed position;
- and
- a trigger assembly carried by said sprinkler body, said trigger assembly configured to maintain said movable deflector and said movable compression member in a closed position, and when said trigger assembly is activated, said trigger assembly permits said movable deflector to move away from said sprinkler body and said movable compression member to slide through said movable deflector.
A sprinkler head for a fire extinguishing system, said sprinkler head comprising:
- a sprinkler body having an orifice defining an inlet and an outlet;
- a deflector support assembly;
- and
- a deflector supported by said deflector support assembly, said deflector being movable between a retracted position wherein said deflector is adjacent said outlet and an extended position wherein said deflector is spaced from said outlet, and at least a portion of said deflector support assembly being located in said orifice when said deflector is in said retracted position.
A method of assembling a sprinkler head comprising:
- providing a sprinkler head body, the sprinkler head body having an orifice, the orifice defining an inlet and an outlet;
- providing a deflector;
- providing a deflector support assembly;
- supporting the deflector with the deflector support assembly;
- and
- slidably positioning the deflector support assembly in the orifice wherein the deflector is moveable between a retracted position adjacent the outlet and an extended position spaced from the outlet.
