Compounds and methods for treating insulin resistance and cardiomyopathy

A compound, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, corresponding to Formula (I):

• wherein:
• R1 is H or optionally substituted lower alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, or alkyloxyalkyl;
• each R2 is independently H, protecting group, or —C(═O)—CHRa—NHRb where:
• Ra is selected from the group consisting of alkyl, aryl, acyl, keto, azido, hydroxyl, hydrazine, cyano, halo, hydrazide, alkenyl, alkynl, ether, thiol, seleno, sulfonyl, borate, boronate, phospho, phosphono, phosphine, heterocyclic, enone, imine, aldehyde, ester, thioacid, hydroxylamine, amino group, and combinations thereof;
• and
• Rb is H or amino protecting group;
• each V and Z is independently (CRcRd)n, O, NRe, S, Ar, CRcRdAr, OAr, NR4Ar, SAr, or Ar where:
• each Rc and Rd is independently H, lower alkyl, OH, O-lower alkyl, or
• Rc and Rd, taken together, is ═O, ═N—OH, ═N—O-lower alkyl, or ═N—O—CH2CH2—O—CH3;
• Re is H, lower alkyl, or —CH2CH2—O—CH3;
• and
• n is 1 to 7;
• q is 0 to 3;
• Ar is an optionally substituted aryl or heteroaryl;
• u is 0 or 1;
• each X is independently H or halogen;
• and
• m is 4to 12.
