Abstract
One embodiment of the invention is directed to operating, in a wireless network, a device that is designed for operation in a different wireless network. In one embodiment, a device designed to operate in a GSM wireless network may be used to communicate in a PHS wireless network.

A method comprising:
- operating a circuit designed for operation in a first wireless system according to a first wireless standard, in a second wireless system that operates according to a second wireless standard, different from the first wireless standard.
A method of determining symbol boundaries of a wireless signal of a first wireless system that transmits at a first slot rate, the method comprising acts of:
- operating a circuit with a clock signal configured for operation with a second wireless system that transmits at a second slot rate to count a predetermined number of clock pulses of the clock signal to estimate a slot boundary, wherein the frequency of the clock signal is not an integer multiple of the first slot rate.
