Lading tie snugger system for securing cargo

A lading tie snugger system for railway cars for securing cargo comprising, in combination:

• lading ties formed of flexible straps with strap end pins that interface with anchor fittings;
• bar buckles interconnecting said straps;
• strap tensioning devices;
• a cargo net for contacting the cargo;
• said lading tie strap and cargo net being held in place by the selected, opposed anchor pairs;
• said anchor pairs being contained in a pocket in the wall or floor of railway box or flat car;
• said tensioning device being used with one of a first hardware array, a second hardware array or a third hardware array;
• said lading tie snugger system being used is operated to remove slack in the lading ties and apply tension thereon to secure the lading to the railway car where said cargo is positioned inwardly relative to a line between the anchor pairs for the first hardware array, positioned crossing a line between the anchor pairs for the second hardware array and positioned toward the car end relative to a line between the anchor pairs for the third hardware array.

A lading tie snugger arrangement for cargo transporters, the transporters being adapted for transportation of a plurality of cargo lading having a volume defined by side walls and end walls and a height defined by a top and bottom, the transporter having a cargo area defined by a pair of sides and a pair of ends, the snugger arrangement comprising:

• said transporter having a side wall stake post containing a plurality of wall anchors arranged in at least one opposed pair of anchors
• said wall anchor pairs being spaced vertically a distance comprising a substantial portion of the height of the cargo lading;
• said lading tie arrangement having a tension member spanning one of said anchor pairs and formed in one of the configurations of a first hardware array, a second hardware array or a third hardware array;
• said first hardware array utilizes a plurality of lading straps spanning at least one pair of anchors;
• said lading is arranged to define allowing spaces between the volume of the lading and the sides of the cargo area;
• said first hardware array having said lading spaced away from a line spanning said pair of anchors in a direction away from the nearest end of the transporter;
• said second hardware array utilizes at least one lading strap interconnecting at least one pair of anchors, said strap coacting with one or both of a cargo net or another lading strap;
• said lading is arranged to define spaces between the volume of the lading and the sides of the cargo area;
• said second hardware array having said lading spaced in a manner as to meet or cross a line spanning said pair of anchors;
• said third hardware array utilizes a cargo net and lading strap assembly to secure lading;
• said lading is arranged to define spaces between the volume of the lading and the sides of the cargo area;
• said first hardware array having said lading spaced away from a line spanning said pair of anchors in a direction away from the nearest end of the transporter;
• in said second hardware array, said straps coact with a buckle and a tensioning device, said buckle and tensioning device being located in spaces;
• in said third hardware array of a capture plate, lading strap and loop assembly and lading strap and tensioning device are set off in spaces the spaces defined by the cargo and cargo area;
• said arrays being deployed in one of the combinations of combining said first hardware array and second cargo array when the mass of cargo lading is large enough to require additional restraining beyond the practical capability by first hardware array alone or said first hardware array is combined with said third hardware array on one half of transporter when the mass of cargo lading is large enough to require additional restraining beyond the practical capability by said first hardware array alone.
