Character recognition is described. In one embodiment, it may use matched sequences rather than character shape to determine a computer-legible result.

A method in a computing system for character recognition, comprising:
- capturing a scan;
- determining a matched sequence of unrecognized images;
- and
- determining a computer-legible result.
