Abstract
A heat sink (10) includes a plurality of fins (12) joined with each other. In one embodiment, each fin includes a main body (13) with an elongated flange (14) and two shortened flanges (16) extending from each of two opposite sides thereof. The shortened flanges extend from the body in an opposite direction to the elongated flange with the elongated flange located therebetween. The elongated flange (14) defines two holes (142) at respective opposite sides thereof and each shortened flange (16) provides an engaging piece (164) in alignment with one hole of the elongated flange. The engaging pieces of one fin engage in corresponding holes of an adjacent fin to thereby combine the fins together.
Claims13
A heat sink comprising a plurality of cooling fins stacked between two opposite outmost cooling fins, each of the plurality of cooling fins comprising a main body, wherein at least one side edge of the main body is provided with at least two flanges extending in opposite directions from the main body and successively arranged along a width direction of the main body, one flange defines a hole therein and the other flange has a connecting piece formed therefrom, the free end of the connecting piece forms an engaging piece in alignment with said hole, and the engaging piece of each of the plurality of cooling fins engages in the hole of an adjacent cooling fin whereby the plurality of cooling fins are fastened and joined with each other.
A heat sink comprising a plurality of fins stacked together in a horizontal direction, each of the fins comprising a body with first and second flanges successively arranged on each of top and bottom of the body, the first and second flanges being perpendicular to the body, the first and second flanges extending from the body in opposite directions, the first flange being located near a corner of the body and the second flange being located near a middle of the body, an engaging arrangement being provided at the first and second flanges of the each of the fins for engaging with engaging arrangement of adjacent fins to the each of the fins to thereby combine the fins together;
- and
- a base having a top face on which the plurality of fins is mounted, the base defining a groove in the top face thereof, the groove receiving the engaging arrangement provided at the first and second flanges arranged on the bottom of the body.
A heat sink comprising:
- a base used to thermally contact with an electronic device to receive heat generated by said electronic device, the base defining a groove in a top face thereof;
- and
- a plurality of fins attached to the top face of said base in a parallel relationship to receive said heat from said base and dissipate said heat to ambient air around said fins, each of said fins comprising a first engaging member extending therefrom along a direction parallel to said base and a second engaging member extending therefrom, the first engaging member and the second engaging member being successively arranged along a width direction of each of said fins, said first engaging member of one of said fins approachable to said second engaging member of another of said fins next to said one of said fins so as to allow said first engaging member engagable with said second engaging member and fix said one of said fins to said another of said fins in said parallel relationship after engagement of said first and second engaging members;
- wherein the groove of the base receives the first engaging member therein.
