Abstract
A workpiece according to the invention has a recess that is compressed by means of a plastic deformation, which reduces one dimension or an inner diameter of the workpiece and thus joins this workpiece to an inner piece in a positively and frictionally engaging manner.

A method for securing a tube element to an inner part by plastic deformation, the tube element having a closed cylindrical wall and, prior to securing the tube element to the inner part, the wall having at least one recess, comprising:
- placing the tube element onto the inner part;
- deforming the tube element in the region of the at least one recess with a tool by exerting a force on the tube element in a deforming direction transversely to the diameter of the tube element, whereby the at least one recess is contracted transversely to the deforming direction and the diameter of the tube element is reduced;
- and
- continuing the deformation of the tube element until the tube element is pressed radially onto the inner part.
An electrical machine having a coil body and a magnetic short-circuit element disposed on the coil body and embodied as a tube element, the magnetic short-circuit element is made from a plastically deformable material and in an uninstalled state has a cylindrical wall with at least one recess, and the magnetic short-circuit element is secured to the coil body by means of a plastic deformation, and the magnetic short-circuit element, by an exertion of force along the axis of the tube element, has been reduced in its outer diameter for its installation on the coil body, as a result of which reduction, the magnetic short-circuit element is pressed onto the coil body.
