Optical recording apparatus and method for searching data recording locations by controlling tracking level

A data recording method comprising:

• emitting an optical signal along a predetermined tracking level on a track of an optical disk and detecting reflection light;
• determining whether track address information recorded on the optical disk is detected from the reflection light;
• changing the tracking level if no track address information is detected;
• emitting the optical signal along the changed tracking level and determining whether the track address information is detected;
• checking the track address information if the track address information is detected;
• and
• deciding a data recording location based on the track address information, and then recording predetermined data in the decided data recording location.

A data recording method, comprising:

• changing the predetermined tracking level if no track address information is detected;
• emitting the optical signal along the changed tracking level and determining whether the track address information is detected;
• checking the track address information;
• determining a data recording location based on the track address information if the track address information is detected;
• and
• recording predetermined data in the decided data recording location.
