Integrated electric motor and control system and method

A method of providing protection to an electrical system, the method comprising:

• disposing a control component within a conduit box of an electrical machine;
• and
• coupling the control component to a power transmission line configured to provide power to the electrical machine, wherein the control component is capable of preventing transmission of power through the power transmission line to the electrical machine.

A kit for adding protection to a rotating machine, the kit comprising:

• a control component, wherein the control component is adapted for electrical connection between a rotating machine and a power source and for completion and interruption of current from the power source to the machine;
• and
• a mounting device for holding the control component within a conduit box of a rotating machine.

A kit for providing control of an electric motor, comprising:

• a conduit box adapted for mounting to the electric motor;
• a relay disposed in the conduit box and configured to be coupled electrically between stator windings of the motor and a source of electrical power;
• a thermal overload device disposed in the conduit box in series with the relay and configured to interrupt power to the motor upon thermal overload conditions of the motor.
