Abstract
A smectic liquid crystal, typically, ferroelectric liquid crystal is uniformly orientated as follows: a space is provided as a dummy region in an area outside a panel region where a liquid crystal inlet is placed; two substrates are overlapped and cut into panels of a desired size, leaving the panel region and the dummy region whereas the rest is cut off; a liquid crystal is injected with the dummy region left in the liquid crystal inlet portion; and, immediately after the liquid crystal is injected, the dummy region is cut off to carry out monostabilization treatment.
Claims11
A method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display device, comprising the steps of:
- forming at least two panel regions over one of a pair of substrates,
- dividing said pair of substrates into at least two panels, each of said at least two panels have one of said at least two panel regions,
- injecting a liquid crystal between said pair of substrates through an opening, said pair of substrates sandwiching said panel region, said opening being positioned apart from said panel region;
- and
- performing a monostabilization treatment to said liquid crystal.
A method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display device with a liquid crystal interposed between a pair of substrates, the method comprising:
- forming, on one of said substrates, at least two pattern regions with an opening,
- bonding said substrate to the other substrate,
- performing a severance treatment on said pair of substrates to obtain at least two panels each having one of said at least two panel regions;
- injecting said liquid crystal between said pair of substrates through said opening, and
- performing a monostabilization treatment to said liquid crystal.
