Abstract
An axle driving unit having a housing (21,22) for supporting a first axle (17) for mounting thereon a first driving wheel (3L), and a longer second axle (18) for mounting thereon a second driving wheel (3R). The axle driving unit is eccentrically mounted on a body frame (1) in proximity to the first driving wheel (3L). A speed change transmission (T) is disposed in an enlarged region of the housing that extends substantially perpendicularly with respect to the axles (17,18). The axle driving unit can thus be easily disposed to the side of a chute (6) of a rear-discharge type lawn tractor.
Claims5
1-28. (canceled)
A transaxle comprising:
- a housing having a fluid sump therein;
- a hydraulic pump disposed in said housing, said hydraulic pump including a movable swash plate and a pump shaft;
- a hydraulic motor disposed in said housing, said hydraulic motor including a motor shaft;
- a center section disposed in said housing, wherein said hydraulic pump and motor are mounted onto said center section so as to be fluidly connected to each other through said center section,
- an axle supported by said housing and disposed in parallel to said motor shaft, said axle having an outer portion extended outward from a side surface of said housing, and said axle having an inner portion disposed in said housing to be mechanically connected to said motor shaft;
- an operation shaft supported by said housing so as to operate said movable swash plate of said hydraulic pump, wherein said operation shaft and said motor shaft are extended in parallel and have respective outer portions projecting outward from said side surface of said housing;
- a speed-control operation lever provided on said outer portion of said operation shaft;
- and
- a brake rotor provided on said outer portion of said motor shaft.
A lawn tractor comprising:
- a vehicle frame;
- a front wheel supported by said vehicle frame;
- a pair of left and right rear wheels supported by said vehicle frame;
- an engine mounted on a front portion of said vehicle frame;
- a mower supported by said vehicle frame so as to be disposed between said front wheels and rear wheels;
- a lawn-discharging opening for discharging lawn mowed by said mower, said lawn-discharging opening disposed at an upper and laterally eccentric portion of the rear end of said vehicle frame;
- a chute interposed upwardly rearward between said mower and said lawn-discharging hole;
- and
- a transmission transmitting power from said engine to said rear wheels, said transmission being supported by said vehicle frame and disposed laterally eccentrically and adjacent to said chute, wherein said transmission includes a pair of left and right output rotary portions for transmitting the output force of said transmission to said respective left and right rear wheels;
- and
- a transmission shaft for transmitting rotation of one of said left and right output rotary portions to said corresponding left or right rear wheel, wherein said transmission shaft is supported by said vehicle frame and passed through a space under said duct so as to be extended from said left or right output rotary portion to said corresponding left or right rear wheel across said duct.
