Abstract
Cyclic amidinium containing compounds and their methods of preparation are described. Compositions containing these compounds facilitate delivery of biologically active polymers to cells in vitro and in vivo.
Claims19
A composition for delivering a biologically active polymer to a cell comprising:
- a cyclic amidinium-containing compound and the biologically active polymer.
The composition of claim 10 wherein the partially acylated polyethylenimine consists of an N-propionyl polyethylenimine derivative.
The composition of claim 15 wherein the in vivo cell consists of a lung cell.
The composition of claim 17 wherein the liver cell consists of a hepatocyte.
A composition for delivering a biologically active polymer to a cell comprising:
- a cyclic amidinium-containing compound, the biologically active polymer and a polyanion in a complex wherein the complex has a negative ζ-potential.
A process for delivering a biologically active polymer to an a cell comprising:
- forming a complex consisting of the biologically active polymer and a cyclic amidinium-containing compound and associating the complex with the cell.
