Resilient discharge deflecting chute

A method comprising the steps of:

• providing an elastomeric sheet element and a means for deforming the sheet element;
• deforming the sheet element into a chute configuration by connecting the means for deforming at one end of the sheet element;
• and
• connecting the sheet element and means for deforming proximate to a side discharge opening of a mower deck with a means for connecting, said means for connecting providing the chute configured sheet element in at least a pair of operational configurations.

A method comprising the steps of:

• providing an elastomeric element and a frame for supporting the elastomeric element;
• connecting the elastomeric element to the frame, said step of connecting providing support to the elastomeric element and maintaining the elastomeric element in a chute configuration;
• and
• connecting the elastomeric element and frame proximate to a side discharge opening of a mower deck with a hinge providing the chute configured elastomeric element in at least a pair of operational configurations.

A method comprising the steps of:

• addressing a lawn mower with a deflector chute defined by a sheet of deformable material, and a frame of generally nondeformable material connected at one end of the sheet and further being connected to the mower, said frame elastically deforming the sheet from a sheet form into a chute configuration;
• positioning the deflector chute in a guard orientation relative to the side discharge chute;
• operating the mower with the deflector chute in the guard orientation;
• and
• providing the deflector chute in an unguarded orientation relative to the side discharge chute.

A method comprising:

• cutting a sheet of deformable elastomeric element into a form;
• and
• supplying a frame defining a configured surface;
• connecting one end of the form to the frame thereby deforming the form into a chute configuration;
• and
• movably connecting the form and frame proximate to a side discharge opening of a lawn mower.
