A system and method is provided for determining a patient's need for a specific clinical care or component and its appropriateness for the patient's needs. The system and method can comprise gathering scores for a plurality of categories having one or more questions directed to one or more characteristics of a patient. The questions can generally be directed toward understanding the patient's needs and the compatibility of the specific clinical care and the patient.
