Abstract

The present invention relates to composite part and a method for producing a composite part having a first body with at least one zone forming a depression and being separated from the front face of the first body by a projection forming one or more lateral walls. The depression receives a second foam body that is covered by a covering or finishing element. At least one lateral end portion of the covering element forms an edge held between the foam body and a corresponding lateral wall. Method includes providing a first body with at least one wall portion extending from the base of the depression and receiving between them a corresponding edge of the covering element. A foaming material that is injected in order to form the second body and only enters into contact with the aforementioned edge, during its expansion, once it has circumvented the opposite corresponding wall portion or the like.

Dependent claims

A method for producing a composite part comprising the steps of:

fitting in a molding set a first body having a lateral wall portion defining a depression set back from a front face of the first body and having a projection forming a circumventing wall in the depression and spaced apart from the lateral wall portion;
fitting in the mold set a covering element for covering the depression, the covering element including a lateral end portion forming an edge;
closing the mold set such that the lateral end portion is positioned in a space between the lateral wall portion and the circumventing wall;
injecting a controlled amount of foaming material into a space defined in the depression between the first body and the covering element;
expanding the foaming material about the circumventing wall and into the space between the circumventing wall and the lateral portion of the covering element, thereby pressing the lateral end portion against the wall portion;
opening the mold set;
and
removing the composite part.
