A female housing (20) has cavities (21) for receiving female terminal fittings (10) and locks (27) for locking the female terminal fittings (10). Each lock (27) is deformed resiliently in the process of inserting the female terminal fitting (10), and is restored resiliently to lock the female terminal fitting (10) when the female terminal fitting (10) is inserted to a proper depth. A reinforcement (36) bulges out on a lower surface (31) of the lock (27) toward the deformation space (S) from a phantom line (L) connecting a front bending point (31b), which is a leading end position of the lock (27) with respect to a deforming direction when the lock (27) is deformed maximally, and a deformation supporting position (31c).
A connector comprising a housing (20) with at least one cavity (21) into which a terminal fitting (10) is insertable and at least one lock (27) in the housing (20) for locking the terminal fitting (10) in the cavity (21), the lock (27) being temporarily deformed in the process of inserting the terminal fitting (10) and being resiliently restored to lock the terminal fitting (10) when the terminal fitting (10) reaches a proper depth, at least one reinforcement (36) bulging out towards a deformation space (S) from a surface of the lock (27) substantially facing the deformation space (S), the reinforcement (36) bulging beyond a phantom line (L) connecting a deformation support (31c) of the lock (27) and a leading end position (31b) of the lock (27) with respect to a deforming direction (DD) when the lock (27) is deformed maximally.
A connector comprising a housing (20) having opposite front and rear ends, at least one cavity (21) extending between the front and rear ends along inserting and withdrawing direction (IWD), at least one lock (27) formed in the housing (20) and being resiliently deformable along a deforming direction (DD) substantially normal to the inserting and withdrawing direction (IWD), a deformation space (S) on a side of the lock (27) opposite the cavity (21) for accommodating deformation of the lock (27) in the deforming direction (DD), the deformation space (S) being defined partly by a wall (26b) opposed to the lock (27), the wall (26b) being substantially parallel to the inserting and withdrawing direction (IWD), and a reinforcement (36) bulging towards the wall (26b) from a surface of the lock (27) facing the deformation space (S), the reinforcement (36) being configured so that a cross-sectional area of the lock (27) normal to the inserting and withdrawing direction (IWD) is greater at the reinforcement (36) than at other locations on the lock (27) and so that a surface of the reinforcement (S) facing into the deformation space (S) substantially abuts the wall (26b) when the lock (27) is deformed a predetermined maximum amount in the deforming direction (DD).
A connector comprising a housing (20) with opposite front and rear ends, a cavity (21) extending between the front and rear ends along inserting and withdrawing directions (IWD), a lock (27) cantilevered forwardly into the cavity (21) from a support (31c) and being resiliently deformable along a deforming direction (DD) substantially normal to the inserting and withdrawing direction (IWD), a deformation space (S) on a side of the lock (27) opposite the cavity (21) for accommodating sufficient deformation of the lock (27) in the deforming direction (DD) for permitting insertion of a terminal fitting (11) into the cavity (21), the deformation space (S) being defined partly by a wall (26b) opposed to the lock (27), the wall (26b) being substantially parallel to the inserting and withdrawing direction (IWD), the lock (27) having a surface (31) facing the wall (26b), the surface (31) having a rear section (31d) substantially parallel to the wall (26b) when the lock (27) is unbiased and an intermediate section (31e) aligned at an acute angle to the wall (26b) when the lock is unbiased, the intermediate section (31e) substantially abutting the wall (26b) when the lock (27) is deformed in the deforming direction (DD) an amount required for inserting the terminal fitting (11) into the cavity (21).
