Abstract
A method and device for time determination in a bus system and a bus system having at least two users which are connected via a communication link are provided, where at least one user stores a specifiable base time in at least one memory, in particular a register, when an event occurs on the communication link whose moment of occurrence is to be determined.

A method for determining time in a bus system including at least two users which are connected via a communication link, comprising:
- storing, in at least one memory of at least one user, a specified base time when an event whose time of occurrence is to be determined occurs on the communication link;
- and
- synchronizing time measurement in the bus system using the base time, the base time corresponding to a time present in the bus system such that measured times are measured in a unit of a bus system time.
A device for determining time in a bus system that includes at least two users which are connected via a communication link, comprising:
- a first arrangement configured to recognize an event whose moment of occurrence is to be determined;
- at least one memory;
- and
- a second arrangement configured to store at least one specified base time in the at least one memory when the event occurs on the communication link whose moment of occurrence is to be determined, the base time corresponding to a time present in the bus system such that measured times are synchronized and measured in a unit of a bus system time.
A bus system including a device, the device comprising:
- a first arrangement configured to recognize an event whose moment of occurrence is to be determined;
- at least one memory;
- and
- a second arrangement configured to store at least one specified base time in the at least one memory when the event occurs on the communication link whose moment of occurrence is to be determined, the base time corresponding to a time present in the bus system such that measured times are synchronized and measured in a unit of a bus system time.
