Abstract
This invention relates to an absorbent structure that comprises water-swellable material, which comprises water-swellable polymers that are coated with a coating agent said coating agent comprising a phase-separating elastomeric material, which allows swelling of the water-swellable polymers, without breakage of the coating.
Claims20
An absorbent structure comprising water-swellable material that comprises water-swellable polymers, coated with a coating agent, wherein said coating agent comprises an elastomeric material that is phase-separating and has at least a first phase with a first glass transition temperature Tg1 and a second phase with a second glass transition temperature Tg2.
An absorbent structure comprising water-swellable material that comprises water-swellable polymers, coated with a coating agent, said material being obtainable by a process comprising the steps of:
- a) obtaining water-swellable polymer particles;
- b) simultaneously with or subsequently to step a), applying a coating agent, comprising an elastomeric phase-separating material that has at least a first phase with a first glass transition temperature Tg1 and a second phase with a second glass transition temperature Tg2, to at least a part of said water-swellable polymer particles;
- and optionally the step of
- c) annealing the resulting coated water-swellable polymer particles of step b), to obtain the water-swellable material.
