Claims49
A method of alleviating pain, the method comprising administering to a subject sphingosine-1-phosphate.
A method of alleviating pain, the method comprising administering to a subject a functional fragment or derivative of sphingosine-1-phosphate.
A method of alleviating pain, the method comprising administering to a subject a compound that activates a sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor or activates a PAM (protein associated with Myc) function.
A method of alleviating pain, the method comprising administering to a subject FTY 720 or salt thereof.
A method of alleviating pain, the method comprising administering to a subject a functional derivative of FTY 720 or salt thereof.
A method of alleviating inflammation, the method comprising administering to a subject a sufficient amount of sphingosine-1-phosphate.
A method of alleviating inflammation, the method comprising administering to a subject a sufficient amount of a functional fragment or derivative of sphingosine-1-phosphate.
A method of screening compounds, the method comprising the steps of
- a. providing a first sample comprising PAM (protein associated with Myc) or a functional fragment or derivative thereof but not S1P (sphingosine-1-phosphate);
- b. providing a second sample comprising PAM and S1P;
- c. measuring the PAM activity in the first and second samples;
- d. contacting the first sample with a compound;
- and
- e. measuring an S1P function.
A method of screening compounds, the method comprising the steps of
- a. providing two samples comprising a cell expressing an S1P receptor or a functional fragment or derivative thereof;
- b. contacting one of the samples with a compound;
- and
- c. measuring receptor activity in both samples.
A method of screening compounds, the method comprising the steps of
- a. providing two samples comprising a cell expressing an S1P receptor or a functional fragment or derivative thereof;
- b. contacting the samples with S1P;
- c. contacting one of the samples with a compound;
- and
- d. measuring S1P receptor activity in both samples.
A method of screening compounds, the method comprising the steps of
- a. providing a cell expressing i) an S1P receptor or a functional fragment or derivative thereof;
- and ii) PAM or a functional fragment or derivative thereof;
- b. contacting the cell with a compound;
- c. determining S1P activity in the presence of compound;
- d. determining S1P activity in the absence of compound;
- and
- e. comparing the S1P activity according to c) with that according to d).
A method of screening compounds, the method comprising the steps of
- a. providing a cell expressing i) an S1P receptor or a functional fragment or derivative thereof;
- and ii) PAM or a functional fragment or derivative thereof;
- b. contacting the cell with S1P;
- c. determining PAM activity in the presence of S1P;
- d. determining PAM activity in the absence of S1P;
- and
- e. comparing the PAM activity according to c) with that according to d).
A method of screening compounds, the method comprising the steps of
- a. providing two samples containing i) S1P or a functional fragment or derivative thereof;
- and ii) an S1P receptor or a functional fragment or derivative thereof;
- b. contacting one of the samples with a compound;
- c. determining S1P activity in both samples;
- and
- d. comparing the S1P activity in one sample to the activity in the other sample.
