Abstract
A nucleic acid sequence encoding a polypeptide having antibacterial activity, which nucleic acid sequence has the nucleotide sequence of Bases 198 to 452 of Seq. ID No. 13 or is a nucleic acid that hybridizes under highly stringent conditions to a complement of a nucleic acid having the nucleotide sequence of Bases 198 to 452 of Seq. ID No. 13, and the polypeptide encoded thereby.
Claims45
An isolated deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) comprising the nucleotide sequence of bases 198 to 452 of Seq. ID No. 13 or a DNA that hybridizes under highly stringent conditions to the complement of the nucleic comprising the nucleotide sequences of bases 198 to 452 of Seq. ID No. 13.
An isolated deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) comprising the nucleotide sequence of bases 198 to 452 of Seq. ID No. 13.
A polypeptide having at least 70% sequence similarity to the amino acid sequence of amino acids 4 to 76 of Seq. ID No. 23 which polypeptide has antibacterial activity.
A polypeptide that is made by causing expressing a host cell a host cell that is transformed with an expression vector that is integrated with a nucleic acid comprising the nucleic acid sequence of Bases 198 to 452 of Seq. ID No. 13, or with a nucleic acid sequence that will hybridize under highly stringent hybridization conditions to the complement of Bases 198 to 452 of Seq. ID No. 13, to express the polypeptide encoded by the nucleic acid, and purifying the expressed polypeptide.
A method for making a polypeptide comprising causing a host cell that is transformed with an expression vector that is integrated with a nucleic acid comprising the nucleic acid sequence of Bases 198 to 452 of Seq. ID No. 13, or with a nucleic acid sequence that will hybridize under highly stringent hybridization conditions to the complement of Bases 198 to 452 of Seq. ID No. 13, to express the polypeptide encoded by the nucleic acid, and purifying the expressed polypeptide.
An isolated deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) comprising the nucleotide sequence of bases 13 to 453 of Seq. ID No. 13.
An isolated polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence of amino acids 50 to 122 of Seq. ID No. 20.
