Abstract
An apparatus and method that combine visual addresses and electronic addresses for identification of electronic units.
Claims10
Devices for visual and electronic identification of electronic units having an individual device for each electronic unit, each device comprising:
- an enclosure;
- a cabinet label for providing visual identification for an individual one of the electronic units and affixed to the enclosure;
- and
- a circuit board encapsulated in the enclosure and the circuit board having electronic identification of the individual one of the electronic units that is communicated via bus pins attached to the circuit board to the individual one of the electronic units upon the bus pins being inserted into the individual one of electronic units.

A method for providing visual and electronic identification of electronic units, comprising the steps of:
- encapsulating a circuit board into an enclosure for each electronic unit;
- affixing a cabinet label to each enclosure that defines visual identification of each electronic unit;
- producing the electronic identification on the circuit board whereby the electronic identification is communicated via bus pins attached to the circuit board to each electronic unit when the bus pins are inserted into each electronic unit;
- and
- inserting the bus pins into each electronic unit.
