A novel pharmaceutical compound 5-[4-[2-(N-methyl-N-(2-pyridyl)amino)ethoxy]benzyl]thiazolidine-2,4-dione hydriodide or a solvate thereof, a process for preparing such a compound, a pharmaceutical composition comprising such a compound and the use of such a compound in medicine

A compound 5-[4-[2-(N-methyl-N-(2-pyridyl)amino)ethoxy]benzyl]thiazolidine-2,4dione hydriodide or a solvate thereof.
A process for preparing 5-[4-[2-(N-methyl-N-(2-pyridyl)amino)ethoxy]benzyl]thiazolidine-2,4-dione hydriodide or a solvate thereof., characterised in that 5-[4-[2-(N-methyl-N-(2-pyridyl)amino)ethoxy]benzyl]thiazolidine-2,4-dione or a salt thereof is reacted with a source of hydrogen iodide and thereafter, if required, a solvate of the Hydriodide is prepared;
- and the Hydriodide or solvate thereof is recovered.
A pharmaceutical composition comprising 5-[4-[2-(N-methyl-N-(2-pyridyl)amino)ethoxy]benzyl]thiazolidine-2,4dione hydriodide or a solvate thereof. and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier therefor.
A compound 5-[4-[2-(N-methyl-N-(2-pyridyl)amino)ethoxy]benzyl]thiazolidine-2,4dione hydriodide or a solvate thereof for use as an active therapeutic substance.
