Abstract
Disclosed is a nonwoven web material (10) comprising thermoplastic fibers or filaments and a method of manufacture thereof. The web material has properties desirable for use on machinery having conventional heat sealing stations (26). Also, disclosed is a nonwoven infusion web material comprising thermoplastic fibers or filaments and a method of manufacture thereof. The infusion web material has properties desirable for use in making infusion packages.
Claims20
An extruded web material wherein heat and pressure can be applied to the extruded web material to form a heat seal seam, the extruded web material having a bleed through of no more than 40 grams when tested using a bleed through test.
An infusion sheet material consisting essentially of an extruded web material, wherein heat and pressure can be applied to the sheet material to form a heat seal seam and wherein the sheet material has a first color time of less than 13 seconds and a percent transmittance of less then 75%.
A package for a beverage precursor comprising an extruded web material and having at least one heat seal seam.
An extruded web material having a TAPPI T494 OM 88 dry elongation under a 1000 gram load in the range of about 0.5 percent to about 3 percent.
An extruded web material including a first nonwoven web comprising at least one bicomponent filament;
- wherein the extruded web material has a bleed through of no more than 40 grams when tested using a bleed through test, a TAPPI T494 OM 88 dry elongation under a 1000 gram load in the range of about 0.5 percent to about 3 percent, a first color time of less than 13 seconds and a percent transmittance of less than 75%.
A method of preparing a brew, comprising:
- enclosing a beverage precursor between two portions of extruded web material;
- forming a heat seal seam in the extruded web material and around the beverage precursor to form an infusion package;
- placing the infusion package in an environment including water;
- and
- extracting the beverage precursor through the extruded web material with water to form the brew.
