Abstract
The present invention can switch a group printer driver controlling a plurality of member printers into a user desired mode. When a capability notification designation of a group printer driver is received from an application, it is determined which is to be transmitted, a conflict result of a capability of a member printer, or a capability specific to a group printer driver, and a capability notification is transmitted depending on the determination result.
Claims20
A printing method by a group printer driver capable of controlling a plurality of member printer drivers, comprising:
- a receiving step of receiving a capability notification designation of a group printer driver from an application;
- a determining step of determining whether a conflict result of the capability of a member printer is informed or a group printer driver determined capability is informed as a capability notifying method;
- an information collecting step of collecting information from each member printer when it is determined in the determining step that the conflict result of the member printer is to be informed;
- a conflict processing step-of performing conflict processing on the collected information;
- a first notifying step of notifying an application of the conflict result as a capability;
- and
- a second notifying step of transmitting a predetermined capability notification when it is determined in the determining step that a capability specific to the group printer driver is to be informed.
A printing method by a group printer capable of controlling a plurality of member printers, comprising:
- a setting step of making settings depending on setting input of a capability notifying method of a group printer;
- and
- a notifying step of externally answering a capability notification request of the group printer based on the settings in the setting step.
A printing apparatus by a group printer driver capable of controlling a plurality of member printer drivers, comprising:
- reception means for receiving capability notification designation of a group printer driver from an application;
- determining means for determining as a capability notifying method which is to be transmitted, a conflict result of a capability of a member printer or a capability specific to a group printer driver;
- information collection means for collecting information from each member printer when said determining means determines that the conflict result of the member printer is to be transmitted;
- conflict processing means for performing conflict processing on the collected information;
- capability notification means for notifying an application of the conflict result as a capability;
- and
- notification means for transmitting a capability defined in advance when said determining means determines that a capability specific to a group printer driver is to be transmitted.
A printing apparatus having a group printer capable of controlling a plurality of member printers, comprising:
- setting means for making settings depending on setting inputs of a capability notifying method of a group printer;
- and
- notification means for answering a capability notification request from the external group printer based on settings by the setting means.
A printing program executed by an information processing apparatus for realizing a control method by a group printer driver capable of controlling a plurality of member printer drivers, comprising:
- a receiving step of receiving a capability notification designation of a group printer driver from an application;
- a determining step of determining whether a conflict result of the capability of a member printer is informed or a capability specific to a group printer driver is informed as a capability notifying method;
- an information collecting step of collecting information from each member printer when it is determined in the determining step that the conflict result of the member printer is to be informed;
- a conflict processing step of performing conflict processing on the collected information;
- a capability notifying step of notifying an application of the conflict result as a capability;
- and
- a notifying step of transmitting a predetermined capability notification when it is determined in the determining step that a capability specific to a group printer driver is to be informed.
A printing program executed by an information processing device for realizing a printing process by a group printer capable of controlling a plurality of member printers, comprising:
- a setting step of making settings depending on setting input of a capability notifying method of a group printer;
- and
- a notifying step of externally answering a capability notification request of the group printer based on the settings in the setting step.
A computer-readable storage medium storing a program code for performing a process of a group printer driver capable of controlling a plurality of member printer drivers, comprising:
- receiving step of receiving capability notification designation of a group printer driver from an application;
- determining step of determining as a capability notifying method which is to be transmitted, a conflict result of a capability of a member printer or a capability specific to a group printer driver;
- information collecting step of collecting information from each member printer when it is determined in the determination step that the conflict result of the member printer is to be transmitted;
- conflict processing step of performing conflict processing on the collected information;
- capability notifying step of notifying an application of the conflict result as a capability;
- and
- notifying step of transmitting a capability defined in advance when it is determined in the determining step that a capability specific to a group printer driver is to be transmitted.
A computer-readable storage medium storing a program code for performing a process of a group printer capable of controlling a plurality of member printers, comprising:
- a setting step of making settings depending on setting input of a capability notifying method of a group printer;
- and
- a notifying step of externally answering a capability notification request of the group printer based on the settings in the setting step.
